A Single Man is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human condition, and ultimately the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life.
Colin Firth is ably supported by Julianne Moore, wonderful as the gin-soaked best friend who still carries a torch. And the period ambiance is superbly realised by celebrated designer Tom Ford, making his directorial debut.
